Intercultural Communication is a core course for Business English majors in the group of higher vocational international trade practice majors. This course introduces and makes a comparative study of Chinese and Western cultures, and the content of the lectures mainly involves the topics of language, culture and intercultural communication, revealing the differences between Chinese and Western cultures in terms of verbal communication, non-verbal communication, life style, behavior, way of thinking, values, cultural orientation, social norms, ethics and morals, religious beliefs and so on, so that students can deepen their understanding and comprehension of their linguistic phenomena and their cultural implications in English, and thus improve the sensitivity of intercultural communication, The course will reveal the differences between Chinese and Western cultures in terms of language communication, non-verbal communication, lifestyles, behavior, ways of thinking, values, cultural orientations, social norms, ethics, morals, religious beliefs, etc. It will enable students to deepen their understanding of the linguistic phenomena of foreign cultures and their cultural connotations, and to enhance their cross-cultural sensitivity, so that they can communicate with people from different cultures in English in a proper and effective manner.
